Frugality today 11/17

Frugal things I've done today:

  • Served the last of the rotisserie chicken for lunch
  • Used the carcass in the crockpot with assorted leftover veggies and seasonings to make broth
  • Cut my youngest son's hair myself (my first time doing so...it doesn't look bad)
  • Attempted a DIY detangler recipe. My daughter has extremely fine, long hair. We shall see how this works.
  • Tweaked a recipe for chicken tortilla bake using on hand ingredients for supper tonight. The casserole is ready to pop in the oven and bake off.
  • Listed some outgrown children's clothing on Facebook yard sale pages.
  • Filled a box of food/hygiene donations for Scouting for food this weekend. Not necessarily frugal, but cleared out several items we don't like/use and avoid waste,  plus providing needed items to others in our community.
  • Baked cupcakes from scratch for daughters burthday tomorrow. Will use a tub of frosting from the pantry once they're cool.

Hi, Y'all

Hi everyone, and welcome to Frugal Single Mom. I'm Amanda, single mom to J, age 14, X, age 4, and E, age 3. Oh, and Maggie, our cat. We live in a small town in Kentucky. I work in higher education, and am in the process of finishing a terminal degree.

This blog will detail our journey as I overcome the financial impact of transitioning from a two income household to a one income household. Although my divorce was final over a year ago, the adjustment period is still ongoing. Topics will include budgeting, cooking, crafting, celebrating, supplementing income, and just some day to day glimpses into our lives.

Come along for the journey!
